The principal question in this appeal is whether Civil Code*fn1 section 49, subdivision (c), gives a corporate employer a cause of action for damages resulting from injuries to a key employee caused by a third party's negligence. For the reasons stated in part II of this opinion we conclude that it does not. In part I we adopt with certain modifications the opinion of Justice Arguelles in the Court of Appeal, holding that the appeal was timely filed.
